What we found: Live bands play the summer Wednesday cookouts on the big front lawn, so there is open grass near the music. Most guests sit at picnic tables to eat, and none of the sources we found say whether people dance. The cookouts run only in summer (about mid-June to early September) and need a reservation.

Good to know: A historic beach resort on Crescent Beach on Shelter Island, open since 1927 and now run by Cape Resorts. In summer it hosts Wednesday night cookouts on its waterfront lawn with a live band.
